Collecting Commons Opening Party & Games Café – Saturday 8 December, 11am – 3pm

Looking for another passport stamp? Join Royal College of Art MA graduate designer Milo Mcloughlin-Greening for the reveal of the Collecting Commons Community Space at Milton Keynes Arts Centre this Saturday (8th December.)

From 11am–3pm all the family are invited to the special open day to view the bespoke wooden furniture handcrafted by Milo, with help from MK College students and the Friends of Great Linford Manor Park, using wood that has been donated by residents from all over Milton Keynes.

During the event, the Arts Centre Gallery will throw open its doors for festivities and games. Play a board game in the Collecting Commons Games Café, and tuck into a warm bowl of soup freshly made with produce donated by Milton Keynes Allotment Association.

Collecting Commons (supported by Arts Council England) is the development of a project designed by Milo, exploring how a physical object can be used as a tool to develop social bonds within a community. Milo has collaborated with local residents, schools, colleges and community groups to design and make a collection of bespoke furniture using donated, unwanted and broken wood.

Following the event the handcrafted wooden furniture will be given a permanent home in community spaces around Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes Arts Centre is one of 17 cultural venues and libraries participating in Pedalling Culture’s Cultural Passport campaign. To complete the Cultural Passport challenge, participants simply need to visit and explore FOUR of these venues,* between 1st December and Sunday 6th January 2019, receiving a stamp in their passports at each site.

All completed passports will be entered into a prize draw to win some fantastic prizes, including a £100 intu Gift Card and Robin Hood Pantomime tickets.
