Pedalling Culture – BBC Look East 22/07
BBC Look East has featured a sneak peak of rehearsals for the forthcoming Bicycle Bell-ero which takes place this Saturday, 22nd July. A representative from the team behind the novel concept, Graeme Surtees, explained to the BBC how the Bicycle Bell-ero project was developed from the Milton Keynes International Film Festival idea of taking great events and putting them into unusual spaces and places around the city, while realising Pedalling Culture’s ambition to promote the Redways and get people on their bikes.
Bringing music into the mix, bicycle bells have been replaced with repurposed instruments and on Saturday from 2pm these specially tuned bells will be played as cyclists travel through the Redways around Campbell Park, culminating in the performance of a brand new short piece of music for massed bicycle bells at The Milton Keynes Rose, created by Milton Keynes composer Craig McLeish. Open to families, individual cyclists, cycle clubs or anyone interested in using pedal power to get out and about, Bicycle Bell-ero is free to enter and more details can be found here
