Looking to occupy the children this Easter holiday?

The Pedalling Culture Postcard campaign, which is running throughout the entire month of April, offers an opportunity to explore the cultural venues and libraries for free. It also encourages you to get around the area sustainably, so whether that’s by foot, pedal power, skate or even an electric vehicle – hit the redways and visit some of the venues participating!

The Cultural Postcards are available at any of the 17 participating Milton Keynes venues and it is simple to enter – just visit your chosen venue, answer a question on the back of the postcard relating to that venue, and post it into the post box to receive a badge and be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes!

If you live in North Milton Keynes, below is an itinerary which isn’t far from home and will keep you busy for a day.

Start off at the Milton Keynes Arts Centre, which is set in the historic grounds of Great Linford Manor Park. There are lots of workshops on during the Easter break – why not take a look at what’s on here.

From Milton Keynes Arts Centre, join the Railway Walk which will take you west towards Wolverton. You will pass the Bradwell Windmill built in c1810.

Once you reach the canal, cross the bridge over the V6 and join the redway which runs alongside Millers Way.

Next stop: Milton Keynes Museum. Over the Easter holidays the museum will be holding a special Easter Egg Hunt.* Each egg, hidden within the museum has a letter on it and, once you find all 7 letters, unscramble them and solve the final clue. If you get the answer right, you win chocolate eggs! If the chocolate eggs leave you thirsty, stop in MK Museum’s Granary tearoom before venturing onto the next stop – the City Discovery Centre which is a short walk or bike ride away from the museum itself.

On route to the City Discovery Centre, take a detour to the Bancroft Roman Villa, discovered in 1971, before heading through North Loughton Valley Park to the City Discovery Centre.

Set on the site of Bradwell Abbey, the City Discovery Centre explores the historical and natural heritage of Milton Keynes. Look out for the Easter Hare from 14th April on the Easter Trail.

You can complete another postcard and be in with a higher chance of winning one of our fantastic prizes, by visiting the nearby Wolverton and Stony Stratford Libraries. Both libraries offer lots of activities for children. Explore the books, join in with activities and get a postcard stamped. See what’s on at your nearest library here.

If you are a keen cyclist, runner or walker and want to further your knowledge of this historical area of Milton Keynes, make sure you check out our Iron Route which is packed full of history, culture and includes the venues listed here.

The Cultural Postcards are available until the 30th April.
